The National Institute of Laser Sciences has obtained institutional accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) on 24 September 2025, in addition to programmatic accreditation for the Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in Engineering Laser Applications.
Achieving this accreditation represents the culmination of the dedicated efforts of the faculty members, teaching assistants, and staff, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gala Al-Azab, Dean of the Institute, and Prof. Dr. Soaad El-Feky, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, with the active participation of the Institute’s distinguished administration, represented by Prof. Dr. Maha Fadel, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Abeer Attia, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Mr. Hassan Farouk, Institute Secretary, and the Heads of the Scientific Departments, in addition to Ms. Mervat Hanafy, Unit Officer, the executive team of the Quality Assurance Unit, the administrative departments, and all colleagues at the Institute.
The Institute also commends the vital role played by students and alumni, whose commitment to participating in quality assurance activities and their exemplary representation of the Institute during the accreditation visit were highly commendable. Furthermore, several community partners and beneficiary entities participated in meetings with the accreditation review teams, shared their perspectives, and collaborated with the Institute in fulfilling its academic, research, and community missions, which stem from the distinguished mission of Cairo University and contribute to the implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030 across various interdisciplinary fields.
Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit
Unit Vision:
To lead the Institute towards excellence and leadership in total quality, achieving academic and institutional accreditation in alignment with the vision of the University’s Quality Assurance Center.
Unit Mission:
To implement quality standards at the Institute, as endorsed by the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation (NAQAAE), and to pursue continuous improvement in institutional, academic, and service performance.
Unit Objectives:
1. Monitor the implementation of the Institute’s Strategic Plan.
2. Promote a culture of quality and awareness of evaluation systems among all staff and departments.
3. Develop faculty members’ competencies in quality practices.
4. Fulfill higher education accreditation standards (guidelines and indicators).
5. Support continuous improvement processes.
6. Evaluate the Institute’s quality through internal audits.
7. Oversee committee activities to execute their assigned plans.
8. Apply for development projects offered by the NAQAAE.
